Hi, my name is Jack Lake. For as long as I can remember, I have loved horses from afar. As a child, they were a far away fantasy of mine. Coming from humble means - in my neck of the woods, horses meant affluence and a much higher social standard than I was born into. Equestrian events were dominated by the backdrop of the several hundred acre horse estates that I admired from the other side of the tracks. Through my growing up years, my love and admiration for horses continued to grow. I wanted to learn and understand more about them. I still remember my 5th grade book report about the Palomino - the beautiful, golden horse of my dreams.

It was through the love of my wife, that I finally got to experience the joy of loving and caring for these magnificent creatures. She even had the palomino that I had dreamt about as a child. We shared the common love for horses and got to enjoy PJ in her final years. My wife made it her prayer and goal to search diligently to find a horse that would love me and take care of me in the same way that I would dedicate myself to it. She began searching the Blaze's website and found Hombre, who was in training for the Trainer's Challenge competition. I can still hear her praying that the Lord bless me with my heart horse in the same way she had been blessed with PJ. When Challenge day came, I was a nervous wreck about the auction process, fearful that I may not get to adopt Hombre. In fact, there were tears of joy shed when I was announced as the winning bid - the only bid - for this amazing Mustang gelding that was made for me.

Shortly after the Trainer Challenge, Chelsea and I began to volunteer at the horse rescue. We developed a friendship with Shawn and Natalee Cross, and view them more as family. After prayerful consideration, we were honored to have been invited to join the Blaze's Tribute Board and gladly accepted the roles. I hope to contribute and make a difference in the world of horse rescue. It is beautiful how life sometimes comes around, full circle. I consider it a blessing and a joy to participate in the recovery and recuperation of one of God's most beautiful creations.
